Currently, individuals enrolled in the following programs must take the TABE test within six (6) weeks of admission into the program, unless they qualify for an exemption (see below).

Exemptions (per FL state rule 6A-10.040)
You may be exempt from taking the TABE if you meet any of the following criteria:
- A student who was earned an AAS degree or higher from an accredited institution.
- A student who entered 9th grade in a Florida public school in 2003-2004 or after AND who earned a Florida standard High School Diploma.
- A student serving as an active-duty member of the Armed Forces.
- A student who is not able to pass the TABE and subsequently passes a state or national industry certification for their program of study.
- A student enrolled in an apprenticeship program that is registered with the Department of Education in accordance with chapter 446.
- A student who self-identify a documented learning disability, is registered with the ADA Services & Resources office, and meets their exemption qualifications per rule 6A-1.0943)
- A student who received a high school diploma from a private school that is in compliance with s. 1002.42. See more here: https://www.fldoe.org/schools/school-choice/private-schools/
- A student in a home education program or personalized education program who submits a signed affidavit from the student’s parent or legal guardian attesting that the student has completed a home education program following the requirements of 2. 1002.41 or personalized education program following the requirements of s.1002.395.
