About the PERT Test
PERT Testing Fees
No charge first test. Additional testing see below.
Postsecondary Education Readiness Test (PERT) scores are used to determine placement in college credit or developmental education classes. It is important to prepare before taking this placement test for the first time.
NOTE: There is a $25 proctor fee for PERT to be taken for another institution. This fee does NOT apply to PSC or Dual Enrollment students.
The PERT test is comprised of the following three sections:
- Reading
- Writing
- Mathematics
Each PERT section has 30 questions and the PERT test is not timed. It is estimated that each section will take approximately 45 minutes to complete (total 2 hrs. and 15 min.).
PERT Re-Test Policy
- After a student has taken the PERT, he or she must wait a minimum of 7 days before attempting to re-test.
- A student may not re-take a PERT sub-test in math, reading, or writing while he or she is enrolled in a developmental course in the same subject area.
- A student who has earned a passing grade (A, B, or C) in a developmental course does not need to remediate before re-testing.
