About the TABE Test

TABE Testing Fees

PSC students no charge.
  • Non-students, other institutions or re-tests $25.00

The Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) is an assessment that measures your basic skills in Reading, Math, and Language. It is meant to point out potential areas of improvement needed for the successful completion and attainment of a vocational certificate. To see if your program requires the TABE test, please consult the College Catalog.

If your program requires the TABE, it must be taken within the first 6 weeks of attendance unless you are exempt (please see link below). It is STRONGLY recommended that students schedule the test as soon as their acceptance notification is received. While the TABE is not necessary for entry into our vocational programs, it is MANDATORY to graduate from the programs for a diploma.

The test consists of three sections and takes approximately four hours. All TABE exams are given by appointment only and requires at least 24 hours advanced noticed. To take the TABE exam, please schedule here.

Please review the College Testing policy located here before your exam.

Retesting

  • If you do not get the scores you need on the TABE, you can take the same version (A) in 6 weeks or schedule a different version (D) to retake in a week.
  • Retesting does not cost any additional fees.
